Our journey in Cape Town, 27.11.15 - 04.12.15

After an 11 hour taxi ride from Steytlerville, we arrived in Cape Town long after dark. Next day, Saturday 28th November, was our big day. We had fun in the pool and we worked hard to prepare our thoughts for our evening première of Under Investigation. See The Cape Town Première of 'Under Investigation'

About sixty people came to the première. It was fantastic. When we had made sure everything was clean and tidy at IJR we went to a Chinese restaurant. We tried chopsticks for the first time.

Next day, Sunday, we went to Cape Point to see the beautiful beaches. We loved playing in the sea.

On Monday morning we arrived for 09.00 at South African History Online. Omar Badsha introduced us to some of the team and we started work on our community website. Before we left we had agreed how it would be arranged and we had a domain name, www.underinvestigation.org.za. WOW! We had some wholefood stuff for lunch! Ugh!

Then it was back to Ann and Andy's for more splashing.

Tuesday we were back at SAHO to meet with the graphics person Ian. We worked hard to give him our ideas for our logo. Eventually we gave him three photos, the mountains at Steytlerville, a group photo of ourselves from the first Theatre of Learning and another of two of us using a magnifying glass. The big idea was that the magnifying glass represented us looking into the world around us, past, present and future. Then after a KFC lunch we went to meet Vertrees Candy Malherbe, a famous historian whose work with the San is internationally acclaimed.

Wednesday, YOH! Wednesday! We got up at 05.30 to get ready to go climb Lions's Head. By 07.00 we were at the start of the trail. By 09.00 we were all at the top! Bravo the Under Investigation Production Team, Bravo. By 11.00 we were back at SAHO to meet Terry-Jo Thorne and hear about her work on a people's history of Claremont.

Thursday was another busy day. First we went to SAHO to see how the website was progressing. It was great to see our new sections and get an idea of what it would all look like. We really liked Ian's work on the logo. We left to go swimming at the big pool in Sea Point. Later we met with Mary Burton who talked with us about her experience as a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. We were interested yo understand, the idea of amnesty.

Then it was back to our splashing and a little more work on this, our first ever home page!

Tomorrow Friday we will go to SAHO for a tutorial on using our website and then we'll taxi back to Steytlerville. Watch this space.

Along the way we have come to know each other better. Zintle loves poetry.

Zintle, Lungelo, Siphenathi, Sinothando and Vuyolwethu, the Under Investigation Production Team invite you to tell us your stories.
